it's no secret i LOVE mint/sage/seafoam/pastel green... it was even the accent color at my wedding. maybe this color is just a passing phase of favoritism for me, but it's a good one. it makes me feel calm and peaceful. you can pair it with almost every color - especially love it with gray or rust. it's a great accent color for home decor too. this color just brings a feeling of relaxation and refreshment ;)

we all know or have heard of rachel zoe - stylist extraordinaire! while she is a fantabulous judge of what-looks-good, she isn't the ONLY stylist with talent.
enter petra flannery. i recently heard about this stylish gal and i adore her, not to mention she dresses 3 hot celebs of the moment:
zoe saldana, mila kunis & emma stone.

the other day i did myself a favor and read the book bossypants by tina fey. needless to say it was hilarious and also rather enlightening. there was tons of great content i could quote, but decided just to share this funny excerpt. i feel she nailed the description... and i'm a girl:

there are some 'pretty-ugly' or 'ugly-pretty' things around the outside of our aparment complex. i decided to compare 3 of them to some of the creative textures and color pairings from J Crew's Fall 2011 RTW runway. love!

discovering connecticut: savers in newington, CT

i've been taking little trips all around west hartford and the rest of CT. today i made a trip to SAVERS and decided to document it. this store is like a "classier" goodwill... if you will.
this is what i found on my mini treasure hunt.

.some very cute dresses & real rabbit fur coat (if you're into that).

.candy store style scarves & the cutest straw hats for summer.

.due to our new home, i had to look in the housewares section. they had tons of vintage china and some cute painting.

.i often hear of people going to consignment stores and finding incredible designer pieces. this has happened to me a couple of times with clothing, but NEVER with purses. so, i was ecstatic to find this genuine vintage Fendi bucket purse - hooray! i also got this cute mirrored letter holder for the top of a desk. my total for these two fab finds - only $10!

3 things i love in our new kitchen...

our kitchen has mint walls and a running theme of black, white & silver.
slowly it's coming together and these are my 3 fav elements to date.

.four happy storage tins filled with brown & white sugar, flour, & oats.

.above our stove are 3 adorable silver vases and sandwiched between them are different types of cooking oils we got as a wedding gift, in Greece on our honeymoon, & in the local grocery store.

.my absolute favorite utensil in the kitchen: our kettle! this one is uniquely special as it's all glass and you can watch the water boil - hooray!
love our little coffee/sugar/cream set too.
